Why We Chose Reis Magos (And Why It Might Be the Perfect Spot for Your Second Home)

Around eight years ago, we began searching for a home in Goa. Like many others, we wanted a space that felt like a retreat, but also something we could return to regularly without worrying about the upkeep. We explored several neighbourhoods: Porvorim, Sangolda, and even parts of Assagao. At one point, we found an independent house that checked nearly every box. But it somehow just didn’t feel like home.

What We Were Looking For

At the time, our needs were simple but specific.

We needed something close to work in Porvorim, but not in the thick of the city. We wanted easy access to the airport, but didn’t want flight paths overhead. The beaches and restaurants in the area mattered to us, but so did privacy. And most of all, we didn’t want the stress of managing a large home from afar.

We weren’t planning to move full-time just yet. So the idea of a gated community, with security, staff, and maintenance built in, made all the difference.

Why Reis Magos Felt Right

Reis Magos wasn’t where most people were looking at the time. That’s partly why it appealed to us.

It’s central. Equidistant from Mopa and Dabolim airports. A short drive from Panjim. Just far enough from the bustle of Candolim and Baga to stay quiet, but close enough when you need the buzz.

The neighbourhood has a kind of layered calm. Coconut groves and rivers on one side, forest trails behind. It’s not manicured, but it’s not wild either. It lives in that rare space in between, where you still greet your neighbours, where the church bells echo softly on Sunday mornings, where old homes are still lived in, not just restored for show.

Kasu Zira, Built From What We Learned

The more time we spent in Reis Magos, the more convinced we became that this was the place. And not just for us. For anyone looking for a second home in Goa that offers both ease and meaning.

That’s how Kasu Zira was imagined. A gated enclave of just 25 apartments, each designed with the comforts of a private villa. Built for those who want their second home to live effortlessly. Fully furnished, with transitional balconies and tree courtyards. Gated for peace of mind. Maintained by a trusted team. Rooted in place, and not trend.

This is a space that lets you live the way you want to. Stay a weekend or stay all season. And when you leave, you know that everything is taken care of.

What’s Around You Matters

Part of the charm of Reis Magos is that it’s still inventing itself. The Reis Magos Fort - just recently renovated - has become a quaint spot for tourists to visit. There’s Lazy Goose, right on the river. Bhatti village for a traditional Goan-Portuguese weekend lunch. Museum of Goa for a dose of culture. The local beach - with its stunning black sands -  is just a walk away. And of course, the church that has been around for decades. Not just landmarks, but living parts of the village.

Reis Magos still holds a gentle rhythm.

Looking Back and Ahead

Eight years in Reis Magos, and we’ve never questioned our decision. The location continues to deliver. For work. For downtime. For family visits. It’s a neighbourhood that’s still growing, but with grace, at a sustainable pace. That balance is rare in Goa today.

If you’re thinking of a second home here, don’t just follow the crowd. Choose a place that holds its identity. A place you’ll want to return to.

That’s what Reis Magos has been for us. And that’s what Kasu Zira now offers.
